Wynn Consulting Ltd are a new consultancy based in Edinburgh who specialise in Public Authority and Local Government professional consulting services. So with a visitor base coming from the professional sectors, we were tasked to design and build a website that would meet the needs of it's intended audience, provide relevant information yet be free of the bells and whistles found on many of their competing websites.
We designed and settled on a look that would fit in well with the identity package of their print based materials. Normally print designs and screen based products do not go hand in hand but on this ocassion the simplicity of the identity system allowed us to carry accross the clean styles to the website. As often happens these days, so many websites tend to ignore their intended audience in favour of technology and visual enhancements but this only serves to frustrate its visitors and result (at best) in lost interest. We are constantly being confronted by plugins, pop-ups, fancy scripts and pages that look so over-designed that it's hard to seperate the content from everything else going on. Clearly, if you are looking for a professional organisation to do business with, then you expect to be presented with a clean professional website, free of fanciful designs and distracting messages instructing you to download plugin x or size your browser to resolution y.
We designed a website that was clean (but not too plain), functional (but not too gimmicky) and above all relevant to the intended audience.
