Perthfinder is a search engine/portal we developed with a view to fine tuning our Search Engine and database skills. This site is purely for experimentation purposes and we use this as a testbed for any new techniques that may benefit a particular client or website.
There are often times when a client will request an untried or new feature and the Perthfinder site gives us the opportunity to try these ideas without affecting a live client site. Inhouse testing is fine but it is more beneficial to has a test website so that we may obtain input from a variety of visitors from various parts of the world.
We use a statistical analysis package which we can extract data to analyse the way visitors navigate and use the site.
One of our recent successes was in the SEO side where after only six months the site was already being ranked at the top of the internet search engines such as Google and Yahoo and even outranking such sites as the Perthshire Tourist Board.
The site lists only Perthshire based companies where they can register their company details and services for free.
